Joint City Council Planning Comm. Workshop to Discuss Draft General Plan |
The General Plan team has prepared a draft General Plan for public and decision maker review and comment. The City will hold a joint workshop with the City Council and Planning Commission to discuss the draft General Plan on Tuesday, April 21, 2009 at 5:30 p.m. The Planning Commission and City Council have already discussed and provided direction on the Land Use, Circulation, and Community Character & Design Elements. This workshop will focus on the balance of the General Plan. The workshop will be in the second floor City Council Chambers at 685 Kentucky Street in Gridley. Public input is encouraged. Vision and Guiding Principles |

Based on decision maker direction and public input, the City of Gridley has approved a Vision and Guiding Principles document. The Vision describes the desired future for the community. The Guiding Principles are the shared values to be used in achieving the Vision. This Vision and Guiding Principles document will be used extensively throughout the General Plan update process. |

What is a Visual Preference Survey? What is visioning?
Visioning is an integrated approach to establishing community goals and policies for long range issues. It brings varying opinions and potentially conflicting views of citizens into a cooperative arena where common goals can be supported through consensus. Visioning encourages public participation through a variety of methods to solicit public comments. One method is the use of a Visual Preference Survey (VPS). By viewing and ranking photographs of urban development, preferences can be established that lead to a consensus on how the community should grow and look. |
